Current Experience:

Liza writes for the National Examiner Religion and Faith page and focuses on issues of national relevance that build faith or show faith in action.

As the Faith Filter columnist for The Cary/Southwest Wake News, Liza writes features on people and congregations demonstrating faith in action that  are highlighted on the first Wednesday of the month. 


May feature on Jackie Craig and The Green Chair Project Helps Families in Need. 

As the Parenting Tweens reporter for The National Examiner, Liza writes features on youth ages 10 to 13 with a special focus on advocacy, faith, and health issues.  Her work in this area began in 2009 and last year, an estimated 7,500 readers viewed her articles.
During Liza's time as the NBC-17 education reporter, she covered a 5 county area focusing on news parents can use and compiled weekly reports on What's Clicking in the Schools. One of her favorite assignments was creating student anchor shows. Watch this clip to see a segment that features Howard Lee, NC State Board of Education Chair (2007).
Past experience:
For more than a decade, Liza's parenting columns and articles appeared regularly in The Cary News Raleigh’s News and Observer, and The North Carolina Journal for Women. Examples of these may be found on the Features page of this website.

During her time as Wake PTA Council President, Liza was the Parent Tip feature reporter/writer for The School Connection (Wake County Public School System's monthly television program) broadcast on local public access stations.

Other writing highlights:
Liza's experiences as an editor include work with The Attachment Trauma Network's Hoofbeats newsletter and Peace Presbyterian Church's Dove Tales publication. She also reviewed and edited Coming to Grips with Attachment: The Guidebook for Developing Mutual Well-Being in Parent-Child Relationships written by Dr. Katharine Leslie.

Liza’s work with Creating Assets Reaching Youth (C.A.R.Y.) was featured by Search Institute in Walking your Talk: Building Assets in Organizations that Serve Youth.
