On Valentine's Day, I had the opportunity to do what I love - working with a wonderful group of people on projects that benefit children.
This year the added twist was taking on a new role as the President of the Friends of Wake County Guardian ad Litem. In the picture on the right you can see my other friends who are joining in this effort. It's a wonderful blend of long-time volunteers including Babs and Ruby, pictured on the front row and Catherine Joyner pictured on the back row just behind on Babs and Ruby. On the left of the picture are the new members of the board, Linda on the front row and Jordan and Lauri on the back.
The needs of the foster children and ones identified as being at-risk are many. Last year the Friends provided holiday gifts for more than 1,000 children, backpacks and other necessities are provided throughout the year. This year, we are hoping to be a strong support to the volunteer Guardian ad Litems who work tirelessly behind the scenes advocating for the more than 600 foster children in Wake County.
