Faith Filter Resources In all of life’s transitions, look through a faith filter to keep you strong. On this page, I plan to share resources and quotes from Grandpa Whit, the Bible and favorite music. Quotes for August 8, 2012
‘Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it abides by itself alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.’ John 12:24-26
What do you propose to do with the wheat of your life, the potentialities of your life? Keep it to yourself in a miserly hoarding fashion? Waste it upon your own fleeting tastes? Or bury it in unselfish service? Grandpa Whit
In Grandpa Whit’s sermon “The Fundamental Way of Life,” he wrote about faith and how focusing on Jesus can help you through the tough times.
No grain of wheat ever accomplishes that which is primarily expected of wheat without first losing its life. For we don’t get the profoundest meaning of these words unless we see how autobiographical they are. How Christ opens up to us the mediations of His own heart. That grain of wheat which held within its wrappings the soul of our Lord fell into the earth and died. The harvest is even yet being garnered.
Today's music video resource is from Tenth Avenue North. Although the lyrics are included in the video, here are the words that capture so much of the meaning for those experiencing a transition in life.
You fought, but you were just too weak. So, you lost all the things you tried to keep. Now, you’re on your knees. But wait! Everything can change! You don’t have to be afraid, because fear is just a lie. Open up your eyes. Lift up your head and let the rain fall on your face. You are not far from grace. He will break open the skies to save those who cry out His name. “ Tenth Avenue North , “Strong Enough to Save”
